Yes, The Top Racers Use Our Paddles

Last week a VERY good friend and business associate was in the office and asked us “so how many of the top men and women actually use Quickblade?” – humbly we (Jim, Lizzie and I) all looked at each other a little puzzled because we actually did not know the answer- specifically. Certainly we have Travis and Candice on the team – and we know that Conner and Kai sometimes use our paddles. But really how many really do use our paddles?

That question is complex to say the least. Because there are a number of sponsored athletes with other brands who do choose our paddles for specific events.

Taking that into consideration, I sat down with Chris Parker’s SUP Racer rankings (which ranks board brands, but not paddle brands) and tried to create a Column I and Column J to his excel sheet. This is NOT PERFECT. So if you see errors, send them to me at Chris.Aguilar@Quickbladepaddles.com and or comment below. But I did refer to facebook profiles, event photos and was able to discern QB paddles in the hands of other athletes (Our logos are usually just covered by stickers for their primary paddle sponsor).

Some language to clarify – There are people like Travis and Candice who are officially on our team and we call “exclusive” users for the purpose of these stats. Then there are others who are not on the QB team but are “regular” QB users and there is no doubt about their use of our paddles. Then there are others who we labeled “sporadic” meaning that they sporadically will choose a QB paddle over their primary sponsor. This was very much on display at Molokai and at PPG.

With this understanding here are the stats.. (and any errors can be sent to me per the above. I am not pretending this to be a perfect representation of who is on what brand since that does seem to change very often)

MEN (Based on SUP Racer 25 Top Ranked)

Primary Choice of Top 25 Men by Percentage (exclusive / regular / sporadic)
Quickblade 28.00%
Starboard 20.00%
Fanatic 8.00%
Naish 8.00%
Hippostick 8.00%
Kialoa 8.00%
SIC 4.00%
Laird SUP 4.00%
Boardworks 4.00%
Werner 4.00%
JP Australia 4.00%
  • OF THE TOP 25 MEN – 16% ARE EXCLUSIVE QUICKBLADE USERS
  • OF THE TOP 25 MEN – 28% USE QUICKBLADE EXCLUSIVELY OR REGULARLY
  • 40% OF THE TOP 10 MEN ARE EXCLUSIVE USERS OF QUICKBLADE PADDLES
  • 60% OF THE TOP 10 MEN ARE EITHER SPORADIC, EXCLUSIVE OR REGULAR QUICKBLADE PADDLE USERS
  • 16% OF THE TOP 10 MEN ARE SPORADIC QUICKBLADE PADDLES USERS

FOR THE WOMEN…

28% Quickblade
16% Werner
12% Starboard
8% Puakea
8% Riviera
8% Naish
4% SIC
4% Fanatic
4% JP
4% Rogue
4% Carbonerro

Interestingly the women seem to be REALLY loyal to their brands. Thus we did not have to break things out between exclusive or regular types of users. But the stats still illustrate the general consensus, that if you are in the top tiers of SUP racings, you most likely have one of our paddles in your quiver.

  • 28% OF THE TOP 25 WOMEN IN THE WORLD CHOOSE QUICKBLADE PADDLES
  • 30% OF THE TOP 10 WOMEN IN THE WORLD CHOOSE QUICKBLADE PADDLES (followed closely by our friends at Werner)

Certainly this data can change day by day with the number of races out there every year and as Chris further defines his ranking systems we can now adjust the Column I and J rankings to reflect those changes.

And again any changes to the below chart – just email me or comment and we will adjust and redo our own Column I and J rankings..
